Ethiopia - Dimtu Hambella
This washed Ethiopian is produced by 361 smallholder farmers at elevations of 1850-2200 MASL. When we brew it as a filter we’re getting notes of stone fruit, pear and sherbert.
This coffee is produced in the Woreda of Hambella Wamenna, Guji region. This is the first year that Kamba and Israel Degfa have brought this coffee to the UK market and we fell in love with it on the cupping table.
Slow cherry maturation from the high altitude coffees used in this project deliver delicate green fruit acidity and citrus bursts which is complemented by a smooth, rounded mouthfeel. We are super excited to add this coffee to our lineup.
The washing station employs 33 permanent members of staff with ~ 350 seasonal workers joining the team during harvest season. This lot uses coffees collected from 361 local smallholders. The contributing farmers are all registered and are part of the Kerchanshe support network set up by Israel Degfa. This network helps smallholders and their families with access to healthcare, education and agricultural support.
