Luis Anibal Calderon - Rare Varietal Duo
These two fantastic coffees were produced by Don Luis Anibal Calderon at Finca Villa Betulia. Luis is a second generation coffee farmer who’s story is a perfect example of how specialty coffee can change the lives of producers.
The first is a natural processed Gesha. This is a complex coffee with fresh mint and jasmine flavours alongside peach, milk chocolate and candied orange. The cherries were extensively sorted before undergoing a dry aerobic fermentation inside grain pro bags for 36 hours. The cherries were then dried on raised beds until they reached 10.5% moisture content.
The second coffee is a washed 100% Pink Bourbon that went through an extended 2 stage fermentation. The cherries underwent a dry anaerobic fermentation inside grain pro bags for a full 48 hours. Then the coffee was pulped and fermented in ceramic tanks for a further 18 hours before being gently washed and sun-dried on raised beds until it reached 10.5% moisture content. Expect a complex coffee with red apple sweetness, cinnamon, floral and ripe tropical fruit flavours.
